-- People across America are facing a crisis of happiness and fulfillment. They lack purpose. They roll out of bed like zombies, go to work, unrefreshed from last night’s sleep, dreading their day, feeling empty in their jobs and coming home to an emotionless life, only to spend the night watching TV and waiting for bedtime so they can get up the next day and do it all over again. Americans are slowly becoming aware of the fact they need to wake up to their own lives and start participating in a way that creates purpose and fulfillment.

Patrick Hill of Carleton University and Nicholas Turiano of the University of Rochester Medical Center found that people who report a greater sense of purpose in life were more likely live longer. What’s even more notable is that people with a sense of purpose had a 15 percent lower risk of death as compared with those who said they were more or less aimless, regardless of the actual age they found that purpose.
What this all means it that people must start to re-awaken those dreams within them connected to their purpose and fulfillment. Quit making dreams wrong if they seem unrealistic. Feel into what life should be like and what gifts there are to offer and use some intuition to decide what’s best in life. No one can decide this for someone else. Then go forth into the world with excitement each day knowing exactly where purpose lives.
