TwoGolfGuys Announce 3rd Annual Grow the Game Scholarship Winner Awards the annual Grow the Game scholarship to Cassidy Schnell, a freshman collegiate golfer has selected the winner of the 3rd annual Grow the Game Scholarship.

The Grow the Game Scholarship was created to support students who make active efforts to grow the game of golf, pursue golf-related careers, play golf competitively, and are active in the golf community via education, charity, or employment at a golf-related facility.

The winner of the 3rd annual Two Golf Guys Grow the Game Scholarship is Cassidy Schnell, a freshman student-athlete at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota.

Cassidy stood out from the record number of applications we received this year by demonstrating a willingness to lead and take risks. Cassidy’s high school did not have a women’s golf team when she was a freshman. Instead of sitting on the sidelines without an opportunity to play, Cassidy took matters into her own hands.

With experience in Junior PGA tournaments, First Tee events and mini league play, she had the confidence to join the boys team which was the only option. Cassidy faced down the intimidation that comes with being the only girl on the team and went on to contribute to winning tournaments.

After her freshman season, Cassidy again showed initiative by recruiting other girls at her school to form a girls golf team. She succeeded in forming the team, and unsurprisingly, took on a role as a leader of the team. Today, Cassidy plays for St. Olaf College on the women’s golf team and is pursuing a degree in environmental studies. The COVID-19 crisis cancelled her spring semester, but she’s making the best of the current situation by training at home.

In the future, Cassidy plans to attend graduate school abroad in Germany to gain new perspectives in sustainability – a future we’re proud to lend some support to.
