Travel Advisory: AirAsia flights check-in in Hong Kong to be relocated to Terminal 2

-- AirAsia will relocate its check-in services for international flights departing from Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) to Terminal 2 (T2) from Terminal 1 (T1), effective 28 May 2026.


Affected guests will receive notifications of this change through their registered contact details. AirAsia members will also be notified via the AirAsia MOVE app through push notifications.


Other AirAsia operations, such as boarding of flights and baggage claim (for arrival guests) will still be carried out in the old terminal (T1).


Both T1 and T2 of HKG Airport are connected, with approximately a 5-minute walk between the terminals. Guests departing from HKG are required to proceed back to T1 after completing the check-in processes in T2, including baggage drop. Check-in counters are available at Row V, International Departure, T2. You are advised to refer to the terminal signage for direction and assistance.


AirAsia strongly encourages all guests, including group bookings, to perform self check-in online via airasia.com website or the AirAsia MOVE app. Mobile and web check-in services are available from 14 days up to one (1) hours prior to departure. All guests are encouraged to use e-boarding passes for smoother travel. The check-in and baggage drop counter closes one (1) hour before the scheduled departure time.


Guests are advised to arrive at the airport at least three (3) hours before the scheduled departure time. All guests are only allowed one (1) piece of cabin baggage (not larger than 56 x 36 x 23cm in dimension) and/or one laptop bag OR handbag OR small bag on board. The total permitted weight for two pieces of unchecked baggage must not exceed 7kg.


Guests are advised to plan ahead to ensure sufficient time for transfers between terminals. Flight statuses are available via the AirAsia MOVE app or can be checked on the website at www.airasia.com/flightstatus/.
