Recently, the book volume Sino-Tibetan Buddhist Interactions, A Treasure of Gilt Copper Buddhist Statues, published by Zhonghua Book Company and co-sponsored by the National Museum of China and the National Palace Museum, has been collected by Columbia University, specifically its C. V. Starr East Asian Library. Up until now, at least six different libraries of Ivy League schools, including Yale University and University of Pennsylvania, have included this academic book about Chinese gilt bronze Buddha statues as part of their collections.The publication of books such as Sino-Tibetan Buddhist Interactions, A Treasure of Gilt Copper Buddhist Statues and Han Chinese Style and Tibetan Taste The Art of the Gilt Copper Buddha Statues of Ancient China, that were then collected by the libraries of prestigious universities in the U.S., were sponsored by the Chinese private gilt bronze Buddhist Statue collector Mr. Li Wei in 2009. As early as 2009, Mr. Li donated 22 invaluable gilt bronze Buddha statues and Buddhist instruments from the Ming and Qing dynasties to the National Museum of China, and hosted a news conference at the Great Hall of the People on the subject. In the same year, the book volume Sino-Tibetan Buddhist Interactions, A Treasure of Gilt Copper Buddhist Statues, which was published by Zhonghua Book Company and sponsored by Li Wei, in partnership with the National Museum of China and the National Palace Museum, was released onto domestic and foreign book market. The book won numerous notable awards including the second Chinese Government Award for Publishing, awarded by The Chinese General Administration of Press and Publication, and the fifth Chinese Publishing Group Award, awarded by multiple reputable publishing groups in China. The entire series of books has also won many other awards in China. Thus, the book has been collected by more than a dozen universities and cultural institutions, including Peking University, Renmin University of China, Tibet University, Fo Guang University in Taiwan, the National Museum of China and the National Palace Museum.
In 2010, the TV series National Treasures Archive, broadcasted by Chinese Central Television International Channel (CCTV-4), reported on the content of the book as well as the personal background of the statues collector Li Wei in two episodes. In 2011, Collection of Gilt Bronze Buddha Statues was reprinted in the second edition by the Forbidden City Publishing House of the Palace Museum in Beijing. In 2012, the academic book Han Chinese Style and Tibetan Taste: the Collected Papers of the Gilt Copper Buddha Statues of Ming-Qing China was edited by numerous scholars and later published by Zhonghua Book Company. It then went on to win a prestigious award for publishing.
