Tennis Central seeks partnerships with local businesses, corporate sponsors, and community leaders to support youth tennis, academic assistance, and scholarships in Lancaster.

-- Tennis Central is inviting local businesses, corporate sponsors, and community leaders to collaborate on expanding youth programs and academic support in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The organization is seeking financial contributions and community partnerships to help sustain existing activities and extend opportunities for over 2000 young people annually to participate in tennis and educational programming.

The collaboration initiative focuses on resources that support their inclusive program delivery, reduce financial barriers to participation, and connect young people with educational and career opportunities. Prospective partners are invited to consider contributions that align with these priorities, including support for youth instruction, scholarships, and academic initiatives. The effort builds on Tennis Central’s 50+ years of work with community organizations.

Executive Director Delaine Mast emphasizes that community involvement plays a role in determining the opportunities available to young people. “When a community invests in its young people, it helps create opportunities for them to develop skills, build relationships, and create their future goals,” Mast states. “Collaboration brings people and resources together around a shared responsibility for helping the next generation learn and grow, as well as strengthening the community.”

Tennis Central is a sports-based youth development non-profit dedicated to expanding opportunity for youth through tennis education and leadership development. By using tennis as a vehicle for engagement, the organization provides year-round programming that supports not only athletic skill-building but also academic growth, character development, and lifelong well-being. Through strong partnerships with schools, community organizations, and national affiliates, Tennis Central has become a trusted presence in the Lancaster community, known for its inclusive approach, commitment to mentorship, and ability to create meaningful pathways for young people both on and off the court.

The organization’s existing activities provide context for the collaboration request. Tennis Central’s initiatives include junior team tennis, summer programming, and youth competitions, alongside scholarships for tennis participation and further education. The organization also provides high school students with opportunities to participate in community service, leadership activities, and employment.

Maintaining access to these opportunities involves funding for program operations, educational support, and assistance for students who may face financial barriers. Contributions from businesses and corporate sponsors would help address these needs, while partnerships with community organizations and local leaders could support coordination and connections with young people and their families.

Mast notes that the educational dimension of youth sports remains an important consideration in developing community partnerships. “A tennis court can become a place to practice respect, patience, and responsibility, but the lessons gain meaning through how young people apply them beyond the game,” she says. “Connecting sports with education gives communities an opportunity to support the development of the whole student, including the choices they make in school and their plans for the future.”

Tennis Central’s educational objectives include encouraging teamwork and dedication, supporting students’ confidence and classroom accountability, and developing relationships with organizations that can contribute to youth development. Its scholarship initiatives also provide assistance for students pursuing further education. Tennis Central has a 99% graduation rate; 97% say Tennis helps them focus and feel better mentally and physically, 98% say they learn patience and respect for others, with 100% saying they want to attend college.

Through this call for collaboration, Tennis Central is seeking partners interested in contributing to these objectives through funding, organizational support, or community connections. The organization’s ongoing partnership efforts will focus on supporting youth programs, educational initiatives, scholarships, and the health and wellness of youth in the Lancaster community.
