In a bid to grow its footprint beyond the United States, — TAAT a tobacco-free and nicotine-free company has officially launched in more than 1,200 points of sale in the United States and other countries.Over the course of 2021, the Company which specializes on an alternative to traditional cigarettes offered in "Original", "Smooth", and "Menthol" varieties, had a goal of expanding its presence across the United States and beyond.
Launched in Ohio in December 2020, TAAT has at first extended massively to add stores in other regions of the United States including markets near Ohio in the country’s northeastern region such as Michigan, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania. In September 2021, barely 10 months after its launch, TAAT products were available in more than 1,000 retail points of sale across the United States with an intention to include Puerto Rico.
A month after that, TAAT sent its first commercial shipment to the U.K., and presently, all three TAAT varieties are now sold in at least 17 points of sale in the Greater London area of the United Kingdom, where store operators are not restricted by tobacco retailing regulations as TAAT is not a tobacco product. Since then, several large-scale tobacco wholesalers in the United Kingdom have received TAAT, and expressed a high level of enthusiasm about the product based on its several advantages compared to traditional tobacco cigarettes.
The tobacco-free company has since extended beyond London. In August, Green Global Earth (“GGE”), the exclusive TAAT distributor for the U.K. and Ireland issued an additional purchase order for €360,000 (approximately CAD $536,000) for a full shipping container of TAAT to be distributed in Australia. This was after the Company proactively applied for trademarks in Australia as well as dozens of international jurisdictions. TAAT's move to Australia placed the company's products on the right track on being a better alternative to tobacco cigarettes for smokers of legal age who aspire to leave nicotine behind.
By November, the company which has a growth catalyst mindset officially launched in Austria which has a total population of approximately 8.9 million, with a smoking incidence rate of approximately 25% in 2019, compared to an average of 18% in other European Union nations.
With this launch, TAAT capitalized on the fact that smokers of legal age in Austria have not had the same opportunities to form preferences for a given tobacco cigarette brand compared to other countries. The Company has now officially arranged for TAAT to be sold to smokers of legal age at retail points of sale in several of Austria’s nine states (e.g. , convenience stores, smoke shops), as well as online through a “geo-fenced” e-commerce portal.
In December 2021, the company announced that its tobacco- and nicotine-free cigarettes will soon be available in Par Mar Stores in West Virginia, Ohio and Pennsylvania including c-stores in gas stations under national banners such as Amoco, BP, Shell and Sunoco.
All of these are part of the company's goal to provide a wide range of customers with an option of a tobacco-free and nicotine-free alternative to traditional cigarettes offered in “Original”, “Smooth”, and “Menthol” varieties as well as position itself in the $814 billion global tobacco industry.
According to TAAT Chief Executive Officer Setti Coscarella, “As more smokers aged 21+ are choosing TAAT instead of tobacco cigarettes, we believe consumer-level demand has influenced retailers of tobacco products and their respective wholesalers to begin carrying TAAT as part of their tobacco category offerings."
