It's not uncommon for a Hollywood movie star, famous musician or professional athlete to be sighted in the city of Miami but for Miami bootcamp gym owner, Manning Sumner, of — Legacy Fit Midtown, the sightings are much closer to home.
On July 8th, Sumner's gym was overtaken by music mogul and multi-Grammy nominee, Rico Love, for what was called a “Happy Hour” bootcamp. Open to the public and Legacy Fit members, the gym was filled to capacity for the hour-long workout with Love. In addition, music was provided by DJ Affect with live drumming by E Flat. The event was followed by an after-party at the BRICK MIA in Miami and featured DJ Effect.
“It was a good time,” a smiling Sumner stated. “Rico trains at Legacy Fit when he's around and has been a client of mine for several years.”
Profoundly affected by the lifestyle guide, “No Days OFF,” written by Sumner in 2012, Love commented, “With Manning and Legacy Fit training, I found a mental and physical therapy. He taught me how to release my stress in a positive way and how to look amazing in the process. I smile every day now.”
As a trainer to the stars and many professional athletes, Sumner has grown accustomed to the accolades gained by the “No Days OFF” movement and his popular bootcamp gym, most recently receiving the 2016 Spectrum Award for Excellence in Customer Satisfaction by CityBeatNews.com.
“I founded this gym because I wanted to change how people live their lives,” Sumner explained. “And I wrote 'No Days OFF' as a guide to do so, a guide to a more fulfilling and successful life. Paired with a steady and consistent workout regimen, it has proven itself as truth time and time again. Both my clients, famous or not, and myself are a testament to its success.”
Only weeks ago, comedian and actor Kevin Hart visited the Midtown Miami bootcamp gym for a workout with Miami Dolphins defensive back Ndamukong Suh. Taped and posted to YouTube, as Hart often does, the “backstage” video went viral, reaching as far as TMZ Sports and NFL.com. NFL analysts began to speculate that Suh was working to improve his tarnished reputation by spending time with the hilarious Hart.
“As far as I know, they were simply training together,” Sumner commented. “We practice PIT or partner interval training in our bootcamp classes and by pairing two workout partners to go through the stations, we have found increased success in reaching fitness goals. It's generally far more effective than training alone.”
A former NCAA running back at Auburn University, Sumner's Legacy Fit is designed in the fashion of facilities at the collegiate and professional athlete levels. With NFL turf, an exterior sand pit, obstacle course and paved track, in addition to top-of-the-line exercise equipment, Legacy Fit has earned the reputation as one of the premier fitness facilities in the country. A strength and conditioning coach to many professional athletes, Sumner is considered one of the most sought after trainers in America today.
