Southwestern College President Founds Job Website To Help Graduates Find Employment

Southwestern College President, Dr. Jim Nolan, founds a job website with the aim of assisting graduates find employment in Counseling and Art Therapy.

Recent graduates have always needed, and appreciated help in finding employment in the mental health fields . Some prominent professionals have chosen to take a bleak perspective on the prospects available to graduates in Art Therapy and Counseling. Then there is Southwestern College, a graduate university in Santa Fe that focuses on Masters Degrees in Counseling and Art Therapy. The school works to prep all its attendees for their careers; each is required to have practicum and internships in the field, helping them to develop experience and professional contacts. When students expressed a need for more guidance in finding a career path, the president of the school, Dr. Jim Nolan, took it upon himself to create a website that will aid graduates in finding the employment they are looking for.

“There are opportunities out there, but not all of them are easy to find,” says Dr. Jim Nolan, president of Southwestern College. “This website is dedicated to filling the need of Southwestern College students and recent graduates. Not only do we work to find and post available positions from across the US, but there are informative articles as well, covering topics such as social media and professional advice, so that each applicant will be more able to present themselves as a highly qualified individual that a company will want to bring on.”

While aiding students in their quest to find a position that will launch their career is becoming more important in higher education, it isn’t so common to see such an effort from the president of the school.

“In fact, I think I’m the only one to do something like this,” concludes Nolan. “I have taken it on as my own personal responsibility and challenge.”

Now in its 34th year, Southwestern College’s motto is Transforming Consciousness through Education. It is a graduate level institution that focuses on counseling and art therapy. Offering a holistic environment for learning, students undergo rigorous academic work that follows national standards for the Counseling and Art Therapy professions while also afforded opportunities for deeply meaningful interaction and sharing.
