Southwestern College Announces the 33rd Annual Transformation and Healing Conference

The New Earth Institute Of Southwestern College Announces the 33rd Annual Transformation And Healing Conference, Scheduled For August 20th Through 24th, 2014.

The Transformation and Healing Conference has long been a valuable source of continuing education among mental health professionals in New Mexico and beyond. Once again, the New Earth Institute of Southwestern College is proud to announce that this year’s conference will take place August 20-24th, 2014. Focusing on “Consciousness and Compulsivity, the workshops include several related to the new ‘Human Sexuality’ certificate and the ‘LADAC’ track, including a Saturday keynote by Dr. John Bradshaw, who will give a workshop titled “Spirituality, Sexuality, and Addiction: The Dynamics of Shame.”

“Doctor Bradshaw has long been at the fore of many issues, including sexuality and addiction,” says Dr. Jim Nolan, president of Southwestern College. “So we’re very excited to have him---he is the closest thing we have to a ‘rock star’ in the mental health professions! This will be extremely powerful.”

Bradshaw is an Author, TV Personality, Mentor, Innovator, Philosopher, Counselor, Theologian, Educator, and Elder who has spent more than 40 years becoming one of the leading figures in the fields of addiction/recovery, family systems, relationships, Spiritual and emotional growth, and management training. His dynamic training and therapies are practiced all over the world and he was elected by a group of his peers as ‘one of the most influential writers on emotional health in the 20th Century.’

A second keynote presentation will be held on Sunday August 24th. The topic, “Breaking Free Of Addictive Relationships,” will be given by Santa Fe’s Lee Cartwright. Cartwright is an enigmatic healer and teacher, known for developing the Shifting Consciousness through Dimensions (SCtD) process, a neurological system for transforming trauma and personal limitations. He has written 3 books on SCtD, and believes that working with clients and teaching are sacred privileges.

“All of us at the College are excited about this year’s conference. The topics are perfectly aligned with the direction of the school and student interests, in addition to being valuable topics for professionals at all levels,” concludes Dr. Nolan.

Now in its 34th year, Southwestern College’s motto is Transforming Consciousness through Education. It is a graduate level institution that focuses on counseling and art therapy. Offering a holistic environment for learning, students undergo rigorous academic work that follows national standards for the Counseling and Art Therapy professions while also afforded opportunities for deeply meaningful interaction and sharing.
