Recently, dozens of educators from across South Africa, including officials from the Free State’s Department of Higher Education and Training, came together at Castle Kyalami in Midrand, to address some of the country’s pressing education challenges. The seminar, focused on Scientology Tools for Life, equipped participants with practical strategies to overcome barriers to learning and improve educational outcomes for students across various institutions.

The tools, based on the works of L. Ron Hubbard, provided actionable solutions to challenges such as misunderstood concepts, lack of motivation, and resolving classroom conflicts. Attendees included teachers from preschools, primary and high schools, colleges, and even Montessori schools.

Senior officials from the Department of Higher Education and Training’s involvement demonstrated a proactive commitment to finding innovative solutions for education challenges in community colleges and other institutions.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, one official stated, “The tools shared during this seminar have the potential to address systemic issues in education. We are particularly interested in piloting these methods in our community colleges to evaluate their impact on improving student performance and engagement.”

South Africa’s education system faces well-documented challenges, including literacy deficits and high dropout rates. According to the Progress in International Reading Literacy Study (PIRLS), 81% of Grade 4 learners in the country struggle to read for meaning. This seminar provided educators with tools to help students overcome such obstacles and achieve success.

The workshop focused on several key areas, including:

  • Techniques to help students understand and retain information effectively.
  • Resolving conflicts and creating a positive classroom environment.
  • Addressing life challenges such as dealing with suppression and personal setbacks.

Educators who seminar expressed optimism about applying the techniques in their schools and classrooms. A college lecturer noted, “The practicality of these tools makes them accessible and easy to implement. I’m eager to see how they can enhance both teaching and learning.”

Attendees emphasized the importance of collaboration between educators and policymakers to address issues such as overcrowded classrooms, lack of resources, and low teacher morale.

“This seminar represents a step forward in empowering our teachers with the means to not only teach but also support learners in overcoming life’s challenges,” said a primary school teacher.

The seminar concluded with a shared commitment to implementing the tools learned and monitoring their effectiveness in improving student outcomes. Plans are underway for further workshops to expand access to Scientology Tools for Life in more regions of South Africa.

The Scientology Tools for Life program provides practical, user-friendly tools for solving real-world challenges. Grounded in the works of L. Ron Hubbard, these tools are freely available to anyone, regardless of belief or background.

About Us: Welcome to the Church of Scientology in South Africa at Castle Kyalami. This architectural masterpiece serves as a religious retreat for Scientologists from across the African continent. Our Church realises Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard’s vision that all Churches of Scientology not only provide the ideal facilities to service Scientologists in their ascent to higher states of spiritual freedom, but they also serve as a home for the entire community and a meeting ground of cooperative effort to uplift people of all denominations. To that end, from here we share our many humanitarian and community outreach programmes with like-minded individuals, groups, associations and organisations. We open our doors and make available our facilities to those who are committed to creating a better Africa and a better world. We believe that together, we can achieve our common dream, one that Mr. Hubbard described as a civilisation without insanity, without criminals and without war, where the able can prosper and honest beings can have rights, and where Man is free to rise to greater heights.
