GrowHare, the revolutionary new shampoo formulated by Oxford scientists and designed to combat hard water, is live on global crowdfunding platform — Kickstarter and raising funds to bring the project to life.
Hard Water can be an unavoidable annoyance that often leaves scalps dry, irritated and hair more prone to breakage. GrowHare is a reinvented clarifying shampoo; designed to alleviate the issues that hard water can cause, while strengthening hair and giving users a healthier scalp.
“Hair thinning is a huge problem in the world that affects more than half of us at some point in our lives. Just look around you, how many people do you know have such a problem? And what lengths do we go to just to cover it up? In this age of social media, we have naturally become more conscious of our external appearance,” says co-founder Dr Ernest on the inspiration behind the project. “Although genetics plays an important role in the progression of hair thinning, the environment can severely accelerate the timeline. Things that come in contact with our hair can either help or hinder our body’s natural hair growth cycles. Hard water is an example of how daily contact can damage our hair, which gave us the inspiration to take a closer look at this problem.”
GrowHare is non-intrusive, simple and affordable. By using the latest science, the company has created an all-natural, 100% biodegradable, and cruelty-free product that works. GrowHare works by removing harmful hard water minerals such as Chalk, Magnesium and Silica, the same ones which leave persistent stains on shower heads— which can also cause stress, damage and irritation to the hair and scalp. Users simply need to massage the shampoo into their scalp and leave it to work its magic for 30 seconds.
After use, both the hair and scalp should feel less dry and itchy - as GrowHare contains natural, negatively charged amino acid surfactants that effectively neutralize and bind to the positively-charged hard water ions so that hard water build-up is effectively removed. It also contains herbal ingredients which naturally strengthens and thickens the volume of hair.
Amino acid surfactants are a new and revolutionary generation of surfactants that is biocompatible and gentle to the scalp but just as efficient as traditional chelating agents. GrowHare’s unique blend of amino acid surfactants makes this shampoo suitable for daily use and also super effective - removing 99% of hard water minerals.
Furthermore, GrowHare shampoo contains all natural anti-DHT as well as hair follicle stem cell stimulating ingredients, carefully formulated as a total hair care solution to reverse hard water damage and create the perfect environment for happy hair.
“The damaging effects of hard water on hair health are indeed very apparent to people who’ve moved from areas provided with soft water to a hard water area. Commercially available clarifying shampoos contain strong surfactants such as EDTA which could perhaps do more harm than good - frequent usage makes the hair and scalp even drier and more irritated, hence it is generally suggested to be used only once a week or month,” adds Dr Ernest. “GrowHare’s solution is simple - by replacing the synthetic compound EDTA with naturally-occurring amino acids. Our biocompatible formulation is gentle to your hair and scalp so it could be used every time you bath, to protect you from hard water damage.”
