In the wake of a pandemic, political agendas, and human rights, artist Skivz drops a new music video named — ‘Essentials’. A satirical take on the ongoing mandates and quarantine restriction, Skivz manages to make the song humorous yet relevant. ‘Essentials’ was out on 10th September 2021 on YouTube and already has over 1.5k views.
Skivz music has been predominantly rap/hip hop and so the new song too is another featurette of the genre. As a talented musician and songwriter, he has done a clever job of tackling very controversial trending topics. ‘Essentials’ features local talents and rappers Myagi, Cheekz & The Vessel. Their voices and contribution to the song add a little bit of extra spice.
The humorous touch to the video is pulled off with ease, giving the listener a good laugh. This wrong is written particularly for younger people who are susceptible and easily swayed by mainstream media. He hopes this song makes them think a little harder while grooving to the song’s catchy beats.
“A few music artists from the area of the South Coast/Wollongong have come together to make an entertaining song and video about our restrictions of being locked down. We put together this video for comedic purposes. The video is just for entertainment, don't take it too seriously. Have a laugh, enjoy the music, and hit that subscribe button”, says the artist and rapper Skivz.
Skivz hails from the western suburbs of Sydney, Australia. He rose to fame after releasing track after track while only being in the music scene for less than a year. The Samoan/Filo has marked the city of Wollongong on the map and paves the way for budding artists from the city.
