School To Give Orphaned Children Free Music Lessons —
Alexandra, Singapore, April 9, 2019 - Less fortunate children from various orphanages are welcome to apply for free music lessons provided by the New World Music Centre. This is the new advocacy of the Singapore-based music school.
The free music lessons will vary and depend on what the child wants to take up. In an interview with Alibaba Printing, the head teacher of the said music school said that they will be offering guitar, drums, piano, cello and violin lessons. They will also be offering music fundamental classes as well as voice lessons and coaching. Dubbed as “Reaching Out for Music Project”, this advocacy is not their first charity work. In fact, the school has an annual charity event that is similar to this. “Last year, we provided musical instruments to various non-government organizations that are caring for abused children and women. The year before that, we conducted free music lessons to less fortunate children from public high schools,” says Ana Tan, head music teacher in the said school.
Tan says that the school believes that music is one of the best therapy ways and that it can help develop a child’s emotional, mental, and even physical abilities. Reaching out to the orphans, she says, “is our way to help them cope with their personal issues and at the same time, provide them with learnings that they can possibly use for their future.” Moreover, the school is welcome for donors to help them accommodate more orphans to teach.
