San Francisco, Ca. A heritage group known as the “Heritage Angels” are seeking donations to restore and preserve the historic Doucet Hennessy House that sits overlooking the Bay of Chaleur in Bathurst, New Brunswick, Canada. The beautiful home, which was originally built in 1808, is now in need of restoration. The Heritage Angels are looking to restore the historic home to turn into a creative cultural space for artists to be inspired by the home's 200 year history.
For 200 years this house has stood as a sentinel on top of St. Peter Avenue in the northern New Brunswick city of Bathurst. The house has a compelling history that speaks to the pioneering Acadian, Irish and Scottish settlers who built this uniquely bilingual province.
“We believe it is important to save the Maison Doucet Hennessy House, because there are no other heritage buildings as this one in northern New Brunswick. We believe there is room on the cultural landscape for this heritage building, and we are very afraid that it will be destroyed if we do not act together now,” says Melynda Jarratt, Co-president of Maison Doucet Hennessy House.
Become a Heritage Angel by contributing to the Doucet Hennessy House. All donations will go toward the preservation and renovation of the beautiful historic home. Save this visible landmark on northern New Brunswick's landscape while contributing to a growing movement that will save this building instead of tearing it down. “Every donation, no matter how small will be recognized on our donors' page on our website as well as a donor wall to be erected inside the Maison Doucet Hennessy House. Plus, you'll have the knowledge that you've contributed to a great cause,” says Jarratt.
Donations of any kind are appreciated. Melynda Jarratt, Co-president of Maison Doucet Hennessy House has begun an Indiegogo campaign to save the historic building. Supporters who donate $25 will receive a thank-you card by mail. For a $50 donation supporters will receive a thank card and an original 5X7 photo of the house. Donations of $75 will allow the supporter to receive a fortune teller reading that lasts one hour. Supporters donating $250 will receive a tour of the home and the cemetery across the street. A $500 donation will give the supporter the ultimate gift of being able to stay at the home for two nights during the summertime.
