London Bridge Healthcare, a new private clinic from Richmond Pharmacology, opens this month, just a few minutes’ walk from London Bridge station at 1A Newcomen Street, SE1. The state-of-the-art site aims to provide fast access to appointments, transparent pricing, and specialist-led services spanning varicose vein treatment and heart screening.
--“Patients want three things: speed, specialist oversight, and clarity on price,” said Kemal Rajabally, Head of Private Healthcare at London Bridge Healthcare. “Launching in the heart of SE1 means a City worker can spot a concern at breakfast and see a consultant by lunch — without opaque fees or long delays.”
Backed by Richmond Pharmacology’s 20-plus years at the forefront of early-phase drug research, with over 300 studies completed since 2001 and unique experience embedding a Phase I unit in two acute NHS teaching hospitals, the clinic translates research discipline into everyday care: rigorous pathways, consultant oversight, and clear outcomes.
Why now — and why here
Elective backlogs remain a top health concern, as 7.37 million open treatment pathways were recorded in June 2025 in England. In London, new NHS datasets highlight persistent inequality in how long different groups wait. London Bridge Healthcare aims to provide an alternative led by NHS consultants — complementing public services rather than competing with them.
What’s on offer from day one
- Veins: Minimally invasive radiofrequency ablation (RFA), EVLA, foam and micro-sclerotherapy, led by Mr Sandip Sarkar, Consultant Vascular Surgeon at Barts Health/Royal London and NIHR North Thames speciality lead for Vascular Surgery.
- Heart screening & investigations: Consultant-delivered assessments (ECG, echo, ambulatory monitoring; optional CT calcium scoring) with Dr Asrar Ahmed, Interventional Cardiologist (East Kent; honorary at King’s College Hospital).
All services are delivered at the Newcomen Street clinic; appointments are often available at short notice during opening hours (Mon–Fri, 9 am–6 pm).
“Minimally invasive techniques like RFA get patients back on their feet fast,” says Mr Sandip Sarkar, Consultant Vascular Surgeon. “With a consultant-delivered service and ultrasound-guided care, we can treat troublesome veins quickly and safely in an outpatient setting.”
September is Vascular Disease Awareness Month, and World Heart Day is 29 September — two moments when the public and media are actively seeking expert advice on circulation and cardiac risk. London Bridge Healthcare will run rapid-access veins and heart assessments throughout the month to help Londoners act on risk, not just read about it.
