Retask the Mask has just launched on Kickstarter. They have brought on Funded Today to help bring their product to a wider audience and increase pledges for the duration of the campaign. —
About Retask the Mask
The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted the world in unimaginable ways, and while humans might be on the road to recovery, our streets, green spaces and oceans are under threat from a new wave of plastic pollution. Retask the Mask is flipping the problem on its head by turning waste hospital face masks into the tools needed to tackle this problem.
Using a machine on site at The Royal Cornwall Hospital, the masks are melted down into blocks, sterilising the material. They then purchase this waste material for recycling, and transform it into Litterpickers. From waste, into resource!
These Litterpickers are heat treated by the Sterile Services department of Royal Cornwall Hospital. The plastic is heated to high temperatures multiple times; first to make the blocks, within the recycling process, and also whilst injection moulding the parts.
Pricing and Availability
Retast the Mask is available to back now on Kickstarter. They are hopeful to see an increase in pledges with the help of Funded Today and their team. Once the campaign ends, the products are set to produce and ship to all backers by June 2021. The starting price for one Litterpicker is $21 USD.
