Functional Medicine University has awarded a graduation certificate to — Dr. Martin Rutherford, DC, signifying his completion of a rigorous course of study in a new science-based system of holistic diagnosis and treatment. Functional Medicine is especially helpful for patients suffering from chronic conditions or symptoms that have baffled a succession of doctors. Dr. Rutherford continues to treat patients at his Reno office, working with patients suffering from conditions such as peripheral neuropathy, fibromyalgia, headaches/migraines, thyroid problems, IBS/IBD, and many others.
“Adding Functional Medicine into our practice has been one of the best things we have ever done,” says Dr. Rutherford. “It is amazing to me how many people out there are suffering with chronic conditions that in many ways can be helped. The best part is in most cases they can be helped without the use of drugs or surgery!”
The Functional Medicine University curriculum includes coursework on blood chemistry, advanced diagnostic tests, gastrointestinal dysfunctions, immune imbalances, metabolic problems, inflammation, detoxification, hormone dysregulation, psychological functioning, biomechanical difficulties and more.
The new Functional Medicine education builds on Dr. Rutherford's previous degree in Chiropractic Medicine from National University of Health Sciences. Dr. Rutherford has been seeing patients in Northern Nevada for over 30 years.
“With all of the confusion out there in health care it is nice to finally have a straight forward clinically sound process to help people suffering with chronic conditions,” says Dr. Rutherford.
