PWA is an authorized assessment center for the Sixteen Personality Factor Questionnaire

Share this news:

PWA is now an authorized assessment center for the Sixteen Personality Factor Questionnaire (16pf) and has partnered with PSI to administer and issue the assessment and proof of completion letter.

Effective July 1st, 2018, the Bureau for Security and Investigative Services (BSIS) will make it compulsory for all initial firearms applicants to take the 16pf assessment in order to obtain a permit.

The specific assessment is the Sixteen Personality Factor Questionnaire (16pf), which is a personality test widely used in various settings, including employers of protective services personnel (e.g., police officers, firefighters and security guards), with scoring standards designed for the attributes specified in BPC Section 7583.47: appropriate judgment, restraint and self-control.

The BSIS has contracted PSI Services LLC (PSI) to administer the 16pf assessment. PSI is an industry leader in administering licensing, credentialing and public safety tests and has 23 testing centers located throughout California where individuals can take the assessment.

Due to the limited staff availability at BSIS, authorized assessment centers such as PWA will administer the assessments and be able to issue official results promptly. This process will streamline the new regulations and allow applicants to obtain their permits quickly and move on with their careers.

Pacific West Academy is staffed with experienced assessment administrators that have extensive knowledge of the assessment tools and can answer any additional questions applicants have. Of the countless assessments available, PWA are pleased that the BSIS chose 16pf as it is one of the most accepted standard assessment examinations out there.

According to the BSIS website, BSIS will issue applicants the Notice of Eligibility for Assessment letter. This letter notifies the applicant to contact Pacific West Academy to schedule the appointment with us for the assessment.

Pacific West Academy will provide each person who completes the assessment with a proof of completion letter that includes the person’s first and last name, and the date and time of the assessment administration appointment. This letter should be kept in the event it is required as proof of having completed the assessment. The assessment letter will be submitted with the application to BSIS.
