Product Air Grows Its Western Washington Electrical Division as Platt Expands Its EV Supply Offering

MARYSVILLE, Wash. — Product Air Heating, Cooling, and Electric is continuing to build out its residential electrical division across Western Washington, supported by a supply relationship with Platt Electric Supply that helps keep commonly used electrical materials available in the company’s warehouse and service vans. The relationship has taken on added relevance as Platt expands its EV supply offering, including a dedicated EV line card and newly available Tesla Supercharger products, while Product Air continues growing a residential electrical division that includes EV charger installations.

Hiring a licensed electrician was only part of building the new division. The company also needed a reliable way to keep the right electrical materials in its warehouse and on its trucks. If that part of the operation failed, a technician could diagnose a straightforward problem correctly and still have to leave because the needed part was sitting somewhere else.

Platt’s current EV offering includes residential Level 2 charging equipment as well as the electrical components needed to support EV installations. The distributor is also promoting Tesla Superchargers as newly available through its network, adding another category to the EV infrastructure products available to electrical contractors.

Product Air’s answer became Platt Electric Supply. The relationship started about two years ago, when Kevon joined Product Air as its first licensed electrician. He had worked inside other electrical operations and had seen the difference a well-run supply system made in the field. After looking at the infrastructure Product Air already used for its HVAC division, he recommended Platt. Product Air followed that recommendation. The company met with Platt and began building the electrical supply system around the relationship.

“Platt isn’t just where we buy parts. If we need something, we can call them and keep moving instead of burning half the day chasing material. Our customer already took time out of their day for us to be there. We try not to waste it,” said Sergey Nikolin, co-founder of Product Air.

Product Air Heating, Cooling, and Electric says Platt provides a dedicated account manager who stays involved as the electrical division changes. The company’s warehouse inventory is also connected to a replenishment system. When technicians pull participating electrical materials from stock, those items are recorded and replacement orders can be generated instead of depending entirely on someone noticing an empty space later. The same approach extends to Product Air’s electrical service vans. Technicians work from organized truck inventories so commonly used materials have defined places and expected quantities. When parts are used and recorded, they can be replenished through the supply system. The electrician should be able to pull into the driveway with the everyday parts already on the truck, not start figuring out where to get them after the job begins.

“We try to roll up with what we need already on the truck,” Nikolin said. “Nobody wants the electrician disappearing for an hour because one part is missing. You’re already letting us into your home and giving us part of your day. We should come prepared.”

Today the electrical division handles work ranging from service-panel upgrades to EV charger installations. Product Air also performs rewiring and electrical troubleshooting across its Western Washington service area.

Platt gives that division a supply network with a substantial local footprint and an expanding electrical product offering that includes equipment supporting residential EV charging. The distributor dates to 1953, when brothers Isadore and Morrie Platt started the company in the West. Platt now operates more than 136 stocking locations and is part of Rexel, which acquired the business in 2012. Rexel currently operates in 17 countries. In Washington, Platt has 36 listed locations. Its Marysville branch at 16215 Smokey Point Blvd is close to Product Air’s main Marysville location. The Everett branch at 3620 McDougall Ave offers 24/7 pickup lockers, giving contractors another way to retrieve prepared orders outside normal counter hours. For Product Air, though, proximity is only part of the value. The more important piece is what happens before anyone needs to make an emergency supply run.

A stocked warehouse gives the electrical team a working base. Stocked vans bring that inventory closer to the customer. The replenishment process is intended to keep both from depending on memory alone. That is a decidedly unglamorous part of running a home-services company, which is also why Product Air believes it matters. The homeowner sees the electrician at the door. They see the repair when it is finished. They should not have to spend much time thinking about the inventory system that made the visit possible.

Product Air’s family-business philosophy has increasingly centered on that kind of behind-the-scenes responsibility. The company is run by brothers Eli, Robert and Sergey Nikolin, and its public “Your Tech Brother From Another Mother” positioning is built around treating a service call more like helping someone you know than moving another ticket through a schedule.

The Platt relationship puts an operational system behind that message. Product Air Heating, Cooling, and Electric cannot promise that every electrical problem will be solved on a first visit. Some repairs require uncommon equipment, additional investigation or work that cannot reasonably be completed immediately. But the company can control whether its everyday materials are organized before the truck leaves. That is the part the brothers have chosen to build deliberately. For Nikolin, being prepared is not separate from customer service. It is one of the ways the company respects the family waiting at home.
