Portable Car Hoist addresses $12,000-per-bay installation barriers with battery-powered vehicle lifting systems that require no floor anchoring or permits

Menifee, California manufacturer targets the estimated 40% of small auto shops locked out of professional lifting equipment by post-tension slabs, leased buildings, and costly concrete work

-- Portable Car Hoist, a California-based equipment manufacturer, has introduced a line of portable car lifts that eliminate concrete reinforcement, floor anchoring, and permit requirements — removing a barrier that keeps an estimated 40 percent of small auto repair shops from installing professional vehicle lifting equipment.

Portable Car Hoist designs and manufactures full-height, portable two-post vehicle lifts with capacities ranging from 8,000 to 15,000 pounds that operate without permanent floor installation. The company's systems use battery-powered hydraulics and a wide-base design to stay stable without being bolted into concrete — unlike conventional two-post lifts, which require thick reinforced slabs and expensive professional installation, and unlike low-rise portable jacks, which raise a vehicle only inches off the ground.

"Shop owners are turning down lift installations not because they cannot afford the equipment, but because their building infrastructure cannot support conventional anchor systems," said Robert Hernandez, founder and CEO of Portable Car Hoist. "We are seeing demand from businesses in older industrial parks where post-tension slabs make traditional lifts impossible, from mechanics who lease their space and cannot drill into the floor, and from mobile technicians who need professional standing-height access without a permanent installation."

Standing-height access without the concrete

The company's Model A and Model P systems lift vehicles between 6 and 8 feet, providing full standing-height undercarriage access comparable to fixed installations. Setup takes approximately 5 to 30 minutes and can be completed by a single technician without specialized tools, permits, or electrical work beyond a standard 110-volt outlet. Battery-powered configurations run 8 to 12 full lift cycles per charge, making the lifts practical for mobile mechanics and driveway jobs as well as fixed shops.

Because the systems are not anchored, they can be relocated within a shop, moved to a new location, or resold — an advantage over fixed lifts, which are difficult to remove and typically hold little resale value once installed.

Built in California, priced against total installed cost

The equipment is manufactured in Menifee with domestic labor and approximately 60 percent U.S.-sourced components. Production lead times currently average six weeks due to custom-build processes. Pricing ranges from $12,000 to $18,000 depending on configuration — comparable to traditional lift systems once concrete work, professional installation, and permits are factored into total cost.

For commercial truck and semi-trailer applications, the company also manufactures a heavy-duty portable truck lift rated at 76,000 pounds combined capacity. All systems include a one-year parts warranty and are engineered to meet Automotive Lift Institute (ALI) safety standards.

"When we were at the RMRW event in Kearney, Nebraska, we ran into a small equipment issue, and having Robert there made all the difference," said Jill Maxon, a Portable Car Hoist customer. "The kindness and attention we received were top-notch. The Portable Car Hoist is a lifesaver."
