-- PanIQ Franchising, Inc., an escape room franchise specializing in immersive entertainment, has just received Series A venture capital investment in the amount of $875,000 from Hiventures Venture Capital Fund, one of the biggest investor companies in East-Central Europe.
While many brick and mortar retail franchises continue to struggle, the entertainment sector is building and developing. Immersive experiences like those developed by PanIQ are becoming very popular, despite the fact that many in America have yet to try them or even become aware of them. The investment is intended to further fuel PanIQ’s advance of their unique “escape room” experiences into the United States.
The rise of PanIQ
Since 2011, live escape rooms have become a dominant tourist attraction in European cities like Budapest, where PanIQ is based. PanIQ’s unique brand of rooms entered the American market in 2014, with their Hollywood unit, and soon expanded to most of the major cities after strong success and positive feedback. Paniq has started to sell franchise licences in early 2017, there are 5 units under construction at the moment. With the new investment, PanIQ is looking at a new merchandising line as well as developing fresh ways to promote and market their franchise system, including a more dominant online presence.
The ultimate goal, according to Akos Gabossy, PanIQ Room CEO is to offer better service to their franchisees so that they can build more and better-quality escape rooms. “We are very passionate about what we do,” says Gabossy. “This is a very important step in a long journey. I’m very proud of this deal, this is the first time of PANIQ’s history, when the lack of capital will not limit our growth.”
Looking ahead at a Series B round of investments, Gabossy envisions developing the escape room concept on a grander scale. “Perhaps a MEGA escape room with food and beverage as well as larger conference/team-building capacity.”
