“I got into growing mushrooms and was surprised at how much of a pain it could be. Everyone says you can grow mushrooms on your kitchen countertop. That's technically true, but the reality is results will vary wildly because everyone's growing environment (and work/school schedule) is different. Plus, leaving them out in the open means your home will end up covered in spores, says founder and CEO Nathaniel Yi on the inspiration behind the project. “This system provides a perfectly maintained environment for your mushrooms to thrive in a confined space within your home, while also keeping those billions of mushroom spores from leaving the grow tent thanks to a built in spore filter.”

“Our kit is basically a commercial mushroom grow facility scaled down to countertop size. It doesn't even have the hardware to connect to the internet if it wanted to. No AI, no smartphone required. Just fill the humidifier once a week, plug the controller into a wall outlet, and it'll grow your mushrooms for you while only consuming 45 watts at the most (that includes the grow light).”
