Following their shortlisting at the UK Search Awards in November, London-based performance marketing consultancy, No Pork Pies, have gone on even further to win the Best Use of Digital Marketing – SME Award at the CIM Marketing Excellence Awards. —
Created to highlight, celebrate and promote excellence in the field of marketing, the annual CIM Marketing Excellence Awards are open to organisations of all sizes in all sectors and industries across the UK. The awards provide individuals, teams, and agencies the opportunity to showcase marketing successes and the impact of their campaigns.
The latest ceremony, their tenth since their beginning, took place on 11 April 2019. This year, No Pork Pies took the prestigious Best Use of Digital Marketing – SME award for their hugely successful GEM Motoring Assist campaign which helped to attract attention from new customers and increase revenue for the company.
No Pork Pies were keen to help GEM Motoring Assist's Breakdown Cover service reach a larger audience within the competitive Breakdown Cover market. Previously, subscription figures were static, No Pork Pies saw the opportunity to raise the firm’s online profile, improve conversion rates and increase revenue. With the aim of increasing the number of clients signing up via GEM's website,
No Pork Pies adopted a tactical approach to SEO based on improving user experience of the website, smoothing out technical issues and providing visitors with highly relevant, well-written and valuable content. They also focused on reaching new customers and building brand awareness through a heavily targeted Display campaign and Paid Search, increasing GEM’s visibility and, ultimately, improving brand search volumes and low-cost conversions.
No Pork Pies have been working with GEM Motoring Assist for several years, and Managing Director, Adam Lee, believes the relationship holds the key to success. Speaking about the campaign, Adam said, “No Pork Pies and GEM have worked closely together for the last seven years. This close relationship is a huge factor in the success of this campaign. With the belief and trust from GEM, we were able to run a continuous testing process to identify areas of success and reduce areas of wastage, as well as come up with new ideas and ways to integrate their digital marketing campaigns. The results in the process clearly show how successful this approach can be and we are really pleased this work has been recognised through our award win at the CIM Marketing Excellence Awards.”
The GEM Motoring Assist campaign generated impressive results, and the CIM Awards panel has now cemented the achievements of No Pork Pies with their award. Within six months of the launch, overall revenue increased by 145%, with a 64% year on year improvement, marking a ten-year revenue high for the company. Year on year PPC revenue was up 566% and ROAS (Return on Advertising Spend) rose from £2.70 to £5.20 per £1 spent in 6 months. SEO revenue increased by 197% with a 38% year on year increase, and the conversion rate for all channels improved by 133%.
Paula Williams, chief executive of GEM Motoring Assist, said, “The changes No Pork Pies have helped us make on our website have proven to be extremely successful across our business objectives, for search and marketing in general. Their on-going activity within SEO, PPC, and conversion optimisation have helped us achieve an incredible year on year improvement and positioned our revenue at a ten-year high. I’m sure, with No Pork Pies, this trend will continue.”
