Nigerian Tech Entrepreneur, Oluwaseun Daniel is Connecting Volunteers Directly to Nonprofits

Nonprofits in Africa now have direct access to on-demand volunteers via the web platform from Nigerian -based social entrepreneur.

Volunteers are, without a doubt, one of the most valuable resources any nonprofit can gain access to. This is primarily the case because nonprofit often rely on them to support their programs and project delivery. In a sector where nonprofits usually have more work to do than they have hands to do it, volunteers boost their power, lighten the load, and exponentially increase their impact.

But how do they find these superstars who freely give their time, energy, and expertise? Where are they all hiding?

Within the last one year, nonprofits in Nigeria have easily found volunteers on Voluserve an online platform that lists volunteer opportunities and has made making an impact in local communities easier. To start, nonprofits simply go to the website, sign up and upload their volunteer opportunities. While volunteers can go to the website, type in their Sustainable Development Goal (SDGs) or location, and find volunteer opportunities.

Voluserve doesn’t only showcase opportunities to connect people who want to volunteer with nonprofits. It also records volunteering history, allowing volunteers track the various organizations they’ve worked with for future employment.

Speaking to Oluwaseun Daniel, the co-creator of Voluserve, he mentioned that by actively volunteering, individuals who use the platform gain professional, technical and soft skills that are crucial for employability, while building social networks and contacts in their desired professional fields.

“A lot of young people are willing to help their communities, but they need a place where they can find the opportunities available, Voluserve provides that avenue,” he added.
