-- A new online business specialising in selling private registration plates has now launched in the North West.
Reghunters.co.uk claims to boast the largest database of private number plates with over 63 million plates for sale and it is based in Blackpool, Lancashire.
The site says it is the UK’s cheapest number plate retailer, with plates starting from as little as £25 plus VAT and a DVLA transfer fee which is £80.
The business has an easy-to-use website which allows customers to search for their desired number plate combinations, with clear pricing for each of them and there are no hidden fees.
Reghunters was launched by Jon Kirkbright who has over 11 years of experience in the industry. Over the years, he has found that customers purchase number plates for many different reasons including as presents or even to replace original plates because they had been cloned.
Jon said: “There is one main rule to understand when buying a private number plate. You can not make your car appear younger than it actually is.
“Some registrations we advertise are dateless and can go on any age vehicle, if you are unsure please contact us for free expert advice.”
As well as selling number plates, Reghunters also provides a free valuation service for customers who already own private number plates.
Mr Kirkbright encouraged those with private registration plates to enquire about how much they could be worth today - as they could have doubled their initial investment in just three years.
He said: “I always say that every three to five years, private number plates should double in value. Buying a private plate is a really good investment as they often go up in value.”
The free valuation service has proven popular for Reghunters, with around 250 requests being made each day.
Jon added: “We get 250 valuation requests each day. We review them and provide the customer with the price we would offer to stock it as well as the price that they should expect for retail.”
RegHunters also provide a registration transfer service, meaning that customers just need to provide one document and simply switch the plates on their vehicle.
Jon explained: “Our experienced team at RegHunter are happy to take care of all registration transfer paperwork with the DVLA.
“All you need to do is send us your V5 to enable us to transfer the private number plate onto the chosen vehicle, in most instances within 7 days.”
RegHunters is looking to expand its team and potentially create local jobs in the Blackpool area. Jon is hoping to hire a staff member with sales and admin experience, preferably in the car industry.
