Photography is an art form that has been liberated in the 21st century by incredible advances in technology, which make new kinds of photography possible, it has democratized the medium in away few ever anticipated. Though more people now engage in photography than ever, there are still certain names that stand out from the crowd, and Michael Rolt is one of them. His stunning portrait, landscape and fashion photography has seen his work featured in several major publications, including most recently photographing rock legends The Who. A preview of his latest work has just been added to his website, giving people a preview of ‘Aerial’. —
Aerial is a series of aerial photographs taking in breathtaking locations, redefining landscape photography in a way that challenges the capabilities of camera, photographer and aircraft. With both high and low angles, stunning juxtapositions and incredible sharpness of detail, the photographs have been made into a set of limited edition prints on special German etching paper, giving them the texture of fine art.
Aerial is the latest exhibition from Michael Rolt Photography, with pieces from his previous exhibitions, The Pier and Focus Pull, also represented. The Pier takes a series of vibrant still life images, while Focus Pull gives a cinematic twist on impressionist principles of composition and form.
A spokesperson for www.MichaelRoltPhotography.com explained, “Michael has always been interested in pushing the boundaries, and in the last ten years aerial photography has become a staple of the cinematic landscape. With his background in filmmaking, Michael sought to bring the epic scale and breathtaking majesty of those moving images to still photography, which required capturing the perfect composition from a moving aircraft. We are thrilled with his results, and look forward to exhibiting them early next year. Until then, these exclusive previews should whet the appetite for the new work.”
