Matrix, a global product design and sourcing company based in London, has been awarded 99th place in the Sunday Times Top 100 Best Small Companies to work for 2019.

Established in 1996 by Charlie Bradshaw, Matrix has become an internationally recognised company, developing and manufacturing consumer product ranges for brands and retailers around the world. Whilst he s happy to take full credit for Matrix s success over the years, the reality is that there s always been a fantastic team behind him making it all happen.

I am absolutely thrilled that Matrix has been recognised as one of the top 100 companies to work for. I am incredibly proud of Matrix and its achievements, but most of all, the amazing people working within it.

Charlie believes that all employees should feel empowered to share ideas freely, take ownership of their role and treat the business as if it were their own.

Creating an entrepreneurial environment has been one of the big success factors for Matrix. I want everyone to come to work knowing the possibilities are endless and they can impact at every level, no matter where you sit in the organisation.

So, what s the magic ingredient that makes Matrix a great place to work?

The answer is in their people and culture. The Matrix view is that if you hire great people and nurture an amazing culture, then the rest just falls into place. Matrix s success has always been, and will continue to be, a product of having these two key ingredients in place.

Head of People, Hannah Thompson, said: Matrix is delighted to have been awarded an Outstanding Best Companies accreditation for workplace engagement. We re so proud of what the team at Matrix continues to achieve together and this award is a fantastic way to recognise and celebrate that. This has been our first year completing the Sunday Times survey and it has highlighted our core strengths as a business, particularly around our unique culture and team spirit. We re looking forward to building on this success in 2019.

A set of core values and competencies guide how the team work with each other, customers and suppliers, framing the recruitment strategy and the employee journey. Ben Read, Creative Director, says: Coming into work on a Monday is easy as it s like an ever evolving, exciting hobby . The team are expected to embody and demonstrate these values and are rewarded with a fantastic benefits package, including unlimited holiday, flexi time, early finish Fridays, private medical insurance, daily fruit bowl and healthy snacks. The team are united in their pride of working at Matrix (96%) and the friendly, relaxed atmosphere can be felt immediately in the modern office decorated throughout with inspirational quotes, walls full of product ranges and a snug inspired brainstorming area.

Tiffany, Account Director, says: working at Matrix is inspiring; the team are always on the edge of innovation, and focused on thoughtful outside of the box growth.

As a small company, there s always an ongoing variety of projects so nobody s restricted by set job roles; it's the positive, ambitious energy of the team that drives the Matrix culture and everyone s always willing to go out of their way to help other people (99%).

Ben Bradshaw, Business Development Manager, says No challenge is too big and everyone genuinely jumps at the chance to help one another on projects. I absolutely love how passionate and driven everyone is.
