-- According to U.S. News & World Report, the state of Massachusetts ranks as number 1 in best state overall ranking.

The research done to come up with this result involved studying different categories, namely health care where it ranked number 2, education number 1, crime & corrections number 7, infrastructure number 19, opportunity number 16, economy number 5, and government number 16.

The State of Massachusetts also happens to house some of the best public schools in the country. Around 50 percent of people living in Massachusetts have a college degree. The report also states that Massachusetts ranks number 2 in health care. Access to health care in this state is great; the percentage of uninsured residents is the lowest in the United States.

Massachusetts ranks high in every possible category, making it a great place to live, work, and raise a family. It is also one of the safest places in the country. It is ranked number one in overall financial safety and driving safety, fifth in workplace safety, 25th in natural disasters, and second in home and community safety.

Massachusetts may have a lower rate of overall crime when compared to the national average, but its individual rates of violent, auto and hate crimes are either the same or above the national average. According to Patch.com, “Massachusetts ranked fourth in murder and nonnegligent manslaughter per capita, and ninth in sex offenders per capita.”

It is always important to be mindful of safety and security, and take conscious steps to keep one’s properties safe even in the safest cities. Residents of Massachusetts, same as any other state, can benefit from security systems and home automation to keep their homes and businesses safe. According to the FBI's crime reports, an estimated 57.9 percent out of the 1.6 million burglaries that took place in 2015 included forcible entry. However, having a home security system makes a house 2.7 time less likely to be targeted, as having a visible security system sign is a good enough deterrent for burglars as any.
