Martin Šoltys thoroughly enjoyed the two-day marathon stage, during which the crew spent the night in a makeshift tent camp. “Both days were great. Today, fortunately unlike yesterday, we started eighth, which helped a lot. We really enjoyed the ride and didn’t have any problems at all. When the truck is running properly, it works beautifully and it’s a real joy to drive,” he said with a smile.
The organizers once again prepared a demanding itinerary for the crews and their machines. “The track was tough, with big dunes and steep climbs. We saw about three overturned trucks. We finished third, so I’m satisfied,” added Martin Šoltys.
His onboard mechanic Tomáš Šikola confirmed the difficulty of today’s stage. “Today was brutal and rough. We’re exhausted and tired, but the truck worked perfectly. We didn’t have a single problem. The first 200 kilometers were insane dunes. White sand was flying everywhere, and there were overturned trucks and buggies all around. But we made it through without getting stuck. We fell into a bowl three times, but we managed to get out every time. It was awesome,” said a member of Martin Šoltys’s crew.
After helping to pull him out of a hole between the dunes and restart his truck, the Buggyra Invictus crew also assisted their compatriot Martin Prokop at the refugee bivouac.
“In the evening, we were repairing the Raptor. Viktor Chytka and I removed the starter; he was missing some tools. They set off in the morning, so everything turned out well,” explained Tomáš Šikola.
