— Mark White Fine Art will participate in the 6th Annual Canyon Road Paint Out on Saturday, October 19th. From 10:00pm to 3:00pm Mountain Time, over 100 artists will line Canyon Road to paint en plein aire, sculpt, craft jewelry, and simply create one-of-a-kind art from their preferred mediums. The event is not only loved by art enthusiasts, but it is also a family friendly affair with a parade at noon and music by students from Santa Fe Public Schools at various galleries throughout the day.
Visitors will have the wonderful opportunity to see gallery director, Charles Veilleux, paint in the gallery’s kinetic wind sculpture garden. This is an incredible chance to see a prolific artist in action, as it is not often that one gets to see the creative process unfold. Also, if his schedule permits, gallery owner Mark White will paint live in the gallery’s garden. Mark White Fine Art will also be hosting a student musical group during the Paint Out, which will provide a wonderful background to the lively day of art.
Art enthusiasts and collectors are also invited to view Veilleux’s newest body of work, “Optic Axis,” which will be on display at Mark White Contemporary Art, the gallery’s second location, in the Railyard District. Veilleux is known for his sculptural paintings that often pay homage to nature, however, his newest body of work is a slight departure toward a more complex them, namely: the relationship between oneself and his or her natural surroundings. About this new work, Veilleux says, “I’ve always had that connection to nature and it’s coming full circle with studying a great sense of connection to both self and things greater than ourselves: the self and the sacred.”
