Majestic Stairs Steps Confidently Into New Era Amidst WA Construction Boom

One of WA’s most iconic staircase brands undergoes a major transformation and prepares itself for a new age after a management buyout from two people who know the brand well.

-- One of Western Australia’s most recognisable staircase brands, Majestic Stairs, is entering a bold new chapter under the leadership of two men who know the business inside and out — General Manager Chris L’Hotellier and Sales Director Paul Galpin.

Originally established in 1982, Majestic Stairs has long been a name synonymous with craftsmanship, quality, and timeless design. Now, as the state experiences a building and renovation boom, the company is perfectly poised to meet the moment.

The Right People, At the Right Time

This isn’t just a leadership change — it’s a homecoming. Chris, known throughout the industry as “Jack”, began his apprenticeship at Majestic Stairs more than 30 years ago. What started with a hammer and hands-on learning has grown into a legacy of delivering some of the most complex and beautiful staircases seen across Perth homes and developments.

Paul, a seasoned operator with a strong background in design and sales, has led new business development for the brand for over a decade. Together, they’ve completed a management buyout from the founding owner, bringing the business full circle into the hands of those who helped build it.

"Taking the reins of Majestic Stairs feels like coming home,” says Chris. “We’ve both invested so much of our careers here — and we believe the best years for the company are still to come.”

Staircases in High Demand

WA’s property landscape is shifting. More families are opting to renovate rather than relocate, and home builds are trending vertically as block sizes shrink and density increases — especially across Perth’s infill suburbs.

According to recent industry figures, two-storey homes now account for nearly one in four new builds across metropolitan areas, while the home renovation sector in Australia is worth $23.8 billion and growing. That translates directly into a rising demand for custom staircases — particularly from builders and homeowners looking for something that feels more architectural and intentional.

Paul notes, “Staircases used to be an afterthought. Now they’re a centrepiece. Whether it’s a floating spine staircase in a modern home or a sweeping timber statement in a Federation reno, people want their staircase to do more than just connect floors — they want it to elevate the whole space.”

Digital Marketing and Strategic Backing

Majestic Stairs has wasted no time laying the groundwork for long-term growth. The team has partnered with PWD Digital Agency, based in West Leederville, to expand their digital footprint and showcase the business to a broader audience online. They’ve also brought on Insight Advisory as their strategic business advisors to refine operations and support sustainable scaling.

“Our partnership with PWD gives us the horsepower to grow our brand online,” said Paul. “And having Insight behind the scenes ensures we’ve got the right structure and support as we take on more volume.”

Legacy, Craftsmanship and What’s Next

While the branding and systems are evolving, the core of Majestic Stairs remains unchanged — a relentless commitment to quality, detail, and integrity in every design. From classic timber staircases to Hamptons-style balustrades, every piece is made to order, crafted in their Perth workshop, and installed with care.

Chris and Paul are also investing in apprenticeships, new machinery, and more collaborations with boutique builders, ensuring the company is ready to meet future demand without sacrificing the traditional craftsmanship that built its reputation.
