Long Island Wine Tour Industry on the Rebound as the North Fork Prepares to Open

As North Fork wineries open back up after months of shutdowns, wine tours are booking up surprisingly fast by New Yorkers ready to get out and celebrate

As Governor Cuomo prepares to loosen restrictions on public gatherings in New York, east end wineries will, at first, limit the number of patrons in their tasting rooms. Dana Meyran, Owner of New Vine Wine Tours in Cutchogue, NY said, “We trained our drivers on new health and safety procedures, so we are ready to start the wine tasting season on the North Fork.” With most of the east end wineries having outdoor areas for patrons to safely social distance, the North Fork expects to see their fall season in full force. According to Lorelle Pugliese, Co-Owner of New Vine Wine Tours, “Our phones are steadily ringing with new vineyard tour packages, from bachelorette parties to weekend warriors ready to get out and enjoy the North Fork again.”

As New York begins lifting restrictions on businesses, east end wineries are adjusting to new ways of operating. Limits to the number of patrons and social distancing rules will be in effect to keep everyone safe. According to Meyran, “Due to limited capacities at North Fork vineyards, I recommend making an appointment before showing up. With our vineyard tours, we make sure you’re given priority in booking your next wine tasting or celebration.”
