Through its efforts to find a way to keep running during the COVID-19 crisis, Ruskin School of Acting has recently moved production and all of its classes to online learning. Since March 16, 2020, the renowned Santa Monica acting school has been offering classes via Zoom. This development has helped Ruskin School of Acting expand its reach around the world in these troubled times.

The Ruskin School offers acting classes throughout the year in the Meisner technique, scene study, scene study with master teachers, directors / non-actor-classes and classes for young actors. The school also offers a six-week introduction class in the Meisner technique throughout the year and one-on-one coaching sessions for self-taping and preparing for auditions.
Sanford Meisner was a founding member of the Group Theatre, which began in 1931. He was a master teacher of acting who trained some of the most famous actors of stage and screen, including Gregory Peck, Robert Duvall, Grace Kelly, Diane Keaton, Steve McQueen, James Caan, Joanne Woodward and many others. The founder of the Ruskin School of Acting, John Ruskin, is a former apprentice of Sanford Meisner’s, and one of the few teachers authorized by Sanford Meisner to teach his technique.
Since beginning its online classes, Ruskin School of Acting has created a global community, welcoming new students from Japan, Austria, Europe, Canada and all over the US. The Ruskin School’s Meisner classes, as well as acclaimed “Scene Study With Master Teachers,” featuring eminent guests, such as current Emmy nominee, Dylan McDermott, as well as Rob Morrow, Anthony Hopkins, Amin Josephs, David Mamet, Jim Belushi, and many more are now interviewing for new classes.
“During a time that’s brought so much emotional and economic suffering, there are certain silver linings, which will make us stronger for the future,” says John Ruskin. “Online teachings have become a lifeline to keep people connected, and we can suddenly be working with people all over the world.
