-- The 2017 champion will compete for Buggyra ZM Racing at the Autodrom Most, where he aims to build on his return to the European Championship at the Nürburgring in July and fight for the best possible result.
“It’s finally here! For us and for Adam, Most is the highlight of the circuit racing season. We always enjoy racing here and are really looking forward to the fantastic Czech fans. We want to put on the best possible performance for them. There’s a lot of interest in the event, and it’s clear that Adam still draws the crowds and that the fans are looking forward to seeing him on the grid,” says Jan Kalivoda, Head of Communications at Buggyra ZM Racing.
Most will be Lacko’s second start in the championship this year. For him and the entire team, the German round served primarily as an intensive preparation for the home event. After a three-year break, the Czech driver got back behind the wheel of a racing truck, this time an Iveco, whose cab-over-engine configuration differs significantly from the bonneted Buggyra trucks with which he has spent much of his career.
Lacko had to get used to a different weight distribution, as well as different handling characteristics under braking and when exiting corners. Furthermore, the opening part of the weekend at the Nürburgring was complicated by technical issues, so much of Saturday was spent searching for the right set-up. The team therefore remained at the circuit after the race weekend for further testing in order to gather as much data as possible ahead of Most and better adapt the truck to Lacko’s driving style.
In recent weeks, Lacko has also been alternating between circuit racing and off-road competition. Rapidly switching between two completely different disciplines presented an unusual challenge, but the experienced driver rose to the occasion and is now switching back to truck racing mode. In Most, he will be looking to make the most of all the experience he has gained.
The team’s ambitions are clear. Following the Nürburgring round, Kalivoda emphasised that all further testing and preparation would be focused on giving Buggyra the best possible chance of fighting for a podium finish in Most. Lacko himself shares that ambition.
“Luck wasn’t really on our side at the Nürburgring, but I believe it will be with us in Most and that we’ll secure a podium finish for the fans,” says Lacko, looking ahead to the home weekend.
Lacko will be competing in Most from Friday, 28 August, to Sunday, 30 August. The home atmosphere and traditionally strong support from the fans should provide an additional boost in the fight for the coveted podium places. For the Czech champion and Buggyra, it will be one of the most important home races of the season and another chapter in Lacko’s return to the European Truck Racing Championship after a three-year break.
Fans will also be able to enjoy a taste of the Dakar Rally. The Buggyra Invictus truck, which is once again preparing to tackle the legendary event, will be on display on the spectator hill throughout the weekend. And that’s not all. On-board mechanic Tomáš “Šiky” Šikola will also share his experiences with the fans.
