The colt was last seen getting his head in front at Greyville in an enthralling renewal of the Guineas and the highly-talented three-year-old could renew rivalries with Capetown Noir after their head-bobbing finish.
Capetown Noir had been a well fancied runner in the KRA Guineas and not too many people had seen the Cape Guineas and Investec Cape Derby winner being turned over. However, Vercungetorix had too much in his locker and the Silvano colt will be looking to confirm the form next month.
The R3.5 million Vodacom Durban July is South Africa's greatest horseracing event and takes place on the first Saturday in July at Greyville. The race is one of eight feature races run at Greyville with the action starting before midday and continues into the evening under the floodlights. Attendance on the day regularly hits 50,000 but millions more watch on television and it continues to be a race to savour.
All eyes will now be on the July Durban gallops, that are this year scheduled for Thursday 27 June, The gallops are a traditional and popular feature of the race and allow the public a final chance to see all the runners in action before the big day.
