Originally introduced in 2011 as a standalone solution for masking structured data in relational databases and flat files, FieldShield continues to evolve as a key product within both the IRI Data Protector suite and the broader IRI Voracity data management platform. The V6 iteration builds on a strong foundation of fast data management and data-centric protection by broadening source compatibility and deepening functionality for privacy compliance and secure testing.
Among the recent developments, FieldShield V6 includes support for ASN.1-encoded call detail records (CDRs) and flat files residing in major cloud storage services such as Amazon S3, Microsoft Azure Blob, and Google Cloud Platform. This expansion supports broader enterprise use cases and meets the growing demand for hybrid environment compatibility.

Additionally, integration with IRI DarkShield enables users to extend structured masking efforts to semi- and unstructured text columns within relational database environments.
The product’s updated dashboard leverages HTML5-based charts to offer clear, visual summaries of data source assessments, classification patterns, and masking activity durations—features designed to simplify compliance audits and risk assessments.
“The ability to combine deterministic and non-deterministic masking options through smart email and NID generators, as well as nested and format-preserving functions, positions FieldShield as a versatile tool for managing test data and preventing unauthorized re-identification,” a spokesperson added.
FieldShield V6 remains uniquely equipped to support business logic-based masking, re-ID risk scoring, and advanced data anonymization within relational database testing environments. Users can also enhance FieldShield workflows by leveraging other IRI technologies, such as DarkShield for unstructured data protection, RowGen for synthetic test data generation, and CoSort for high-performance data integration and reporting.
