Innovative Routines International (IRI), Inc. announces the release of DarkShield Version 5, an advanced upgrade expanding PII data protection across more data types and platforms.

-- Innovative Routines International Inc., a leader in big data management and data-centric security software, presents the latest update to its DarkShield software. This major release enhances the capability to search and mask personally identifiable information (PII) and other sensitive data across structured, semi-structured, and unstructured sources on-premise and in the cloud.

DarkShield Version 5 builds upon the strong foundation set by its predecessor, incorporating significant enhancements to the IRI Workbench graphical user interface (GUI) and expanding support to include a broader array of data types and cloud environments.

Devon Kozenieski, a software engineer at IRI, elaborates on the advancements, "DarkShield 5 is a transformative update that significantly elevates our capabilities in terms of user accessibility, flexibility, and overall performance. The focus on refining the user experience and streamlining the application of consistent masking rules across diverse data transformation environments is a pivotal step towards simplifying data security."

This version introduces comprehensive integrations and functionalities, such as the embedding of DarkShield API features directly into the IRI Workbench GUI, using both the existing V4 and the new V5 engines. This integration supports enhanced search and masking operations across multiple cloud storage options, including Azure Blob, GCP, OneDrive, and SharePoint Online, complementing the previously supported AWS S3.

The update provides advanced data classification tools within the IRI Workbench GUI, supporting data class groups and sensitivity labels, alongside new machine learning enhancements for training OpenNLP, PyTorch, and TensorFlow NER models. These improvements boost the system's ability to accurately identify PII across different languages and contexts.

Also, DarkShield V5 includes new visualization tools, such as HTML5 graphs and heat-mapped charts, which provide detailed insights into the amounts and types of PII detected and masked across various data silos. These tools are invaluable for organizations focused on compliance with data privacy laws and strategies for data breach prevention.

"DarkShield V5 not only broadens the scope of our data protection capabilities but also enhances the precision and user-friendliness of our software. These advancements highlight our ongoing commitment to protecting sensitive information amidst the complexities of modern data environments, particularly by utilizing big data transformation tools," added Kozenieski.

DarkShield V5 continues to be a cornerstone for data privacy law compliance, data breach prevention, and secure test data provisioning, aligning with other suite products like FieldShield for RDBs and flat files, CellShield for Excel, and RowGen for test data synthesis. All these products are integrated within the IRI Workbench GUI built on Eclipse, ensuring a cohesive and efficient user experience.
