Up to $133 off 2014 Cyber Week iPad Mini Sales Published

Black Friday frenzy may be done and dusted, but iPad Mini deals are still going strong. A good 48 hours later, iPad sales are still going strong with certain retailers. That’s why those who missed the Best Buy and Staples sales two days ago need not worry too much.

These Cyber Monday iPad Mini SALES are discounted as much as $133 (27%) from the list price.

“This may be the last time we’re seeing markdowns this steep. So if you missed the Black Friday iPad deals, this may be your last chance to save big on an Apple iPad Air” warns Casey Donalds, a coauthor of the above.

Apple iPad markdowns were still available on Amazon.com, Best Buy, Staples and some other retailers. However, most of these stores have run out of stocks, especially the more popular 16GB Wi Fi only mini. The less popular 64GB and 128GB versions and the expensive Wi Fi + 4G cellular models are still in stock. “However, if you look in the right places, even the 16GB basic iPad Mini is still available for purchase at discounted prices” explains Donalds.

“Right now the price difference between the latest iPad Mini 3 (2014 release) and the older iPad Mini 2 (2013 release) is just over $100. However, because the major specs on the Mini 3 and the Mini 2 are nearly identical, you can buy the Mini 2 and save over $100 that can be used on something else this holiday season” says Donalds.

From a tech spec point-of-view, the major spec that is missing on the iPad Mini 2, compared to the newer model, is the lack of the fingerprint scanner. Whether it’s worth the extra $100 or not is the buyer’s call. “Those who wouldn’t trade $100 for the fingerprint ID scanner can find relief in the fact that fingerprint identification technology is still far from perfect” grins Donalds. Up to 20% fail rates have been reported for these sensors, especially when it was first introduced on the 5th generation iPhones.

In addition to writing on mini iPad sales, they have also published the latest Cyber Monday sales on iPad Air 1 and Air 2 tablets. Arguably the best Black Friday iPad Air deal was the one from Target where a free $140 gift card was given away with an Air purchase. Whether Target or anybody else will beat this deal remains to be seen.

When it comes to iPad Mini sales, the consumers need to beware of one thing. There are quite a few sales on iPad Minis for $239. On some stores, this price is for the 1st generation Mini tablet. “You don’t want to buy a 1st generation iPad Mini for that price” says Donalds. “Look for these two things to make sure you know which model you’re buying. First, look for an iPad Mini with Retina Display. If it doesn’t have a retina display, it’s a Mini 1 and you should stay away from it. The second thing to look for is the model number. If you look closely, you’ll see that they have model numbers that look like MD528LL, ME276LL, and MGYE2LL. If it starts with MD, it’s a first generation tablet; if it starts with ME, it’s a Mini 2 and if it starts with MG, it’s an iPad Mini 3. As long as you pay careful attention to the above two things, you can be confident that you’re buying the right iPad this December 1st, Cyber Monday” explains Donalds.

Grabbing one on Monday is important, but these deals will likely extend well in to the rest of the Cyber Week.
