The expansion has grown out of subjects closely connected to the area itself. Roman Aquae developed near present-day Călan on the imperial route between Ulpia Traiana Sarmizegetusa and Apulum. The town's administrative area also includes Strei and Streisângeorgiu, two villages known for medieval churches, while the ancient quarries at Măgura Călanului supplied limestone used in the monumental architecture of the Dacian fortresses in the Șureanu Mountains.
History, archaeology, medieval monuments and industrial heritage were among the subjects covered during the publication's earlier development. Coverage later extended to other parts of Transylvania and to Romanian history more broadly, while news reporting expanded to events elsewhere in Romania and abroad.
From Călan to broader coverage
Călan, Hunedoara County and Transylvania remain part of the publication's coverage. Articles on the medieval churches at Strei and Streisângeorgiu, Roman Aquae and Măgura Călanului sit alongside material on sites and events from other parts of Romania.

One of the publication's larger editorial projects is The Encyclopedia of Press History (Enciclopedia Istoria Presei), a collection devoted to newspapers, news agencies, journalists and the development of print and broadcast media in Romania and abroad.
The collection reaches back well before the emergence of the modern newspaper. Articles cover Acta Diurna in ancient Rome, the spread of printing in Europe, Johann Carolus and Relation in Strasbourg, and The Daily Courant, published in London in the early 18th century.

History remains a major area of coverage. Articles range from archaeological sites and medieval monuments to industrial history, religious history, political events and the communist period. One article on Călan itself follows the area from early settlement through industrial development and the changes that came with the decline of the steel industry.
