The Circa 1820 pot belly stove (wood burner) from the old branch road school house. Was purchase by C.R. Stitzer in 1939 and restored in 1951. Included with the stove also are pictures and framed information about the history of this stove.
The potbelly stove (also called a Round Oak) is one of more than a dozen types of popular wood or coal-burning stoves that were made of cast iron in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. At that time, the stove was placed in the center of the room and It adds character and value to homes.
