"After I solo backpacked through Australia in 2017, it became clear to me that solo women travelers need a way to easily connect with safe local women for friendship, accommodation, and support while traveling alone,” says founder and CEO Tess Millhollon on the inspiration behind the project. “I personally loved staying with locals while abroad not only because it gave me a safe, free place to sleep, but it also gave me a truly immersive experience of seeing the country through the eyes of a local. It showed me what it would be like to live there and I became one of them- not just a tourist. They often introduced me to their friends and family in the area so I had a growing network of local friends while I was traveling solo.”

They don’t know how to find local women to connect with whom they could trust enough to stay in their home. Plus men can pose as anyone online and personal networking can only go so far,” adds Millhollon. “Creating an exclusive app community was the perfect answer to the cries of the solo traveling community.
