Masia is the first hospitality venue to be announced at the 51 Flinders Ln precinct opening later this year and will become a signature addition to Melbourne’s renowned Flinders Lane culinary corridor.

Set within the ground floor precinct of GPT’s landmark dual office tower development, Masia will occupy a prominent position as the anchor venue in the new pedestrian laneway connecting Flinders Street and Flinders Lane. The precinct will include a range of day-to-evening casual and fine dining outlets.

Culinary lead of Renascence Group, Executive Chef Alejandro Saravia said, “I am delighted to be joining the 51 Flinders Ln precinct to create a new experience for Melbourne’s community and bring a cuisine shaped by the places and flavours that inspire me”.

For the first time, Saravia will document one of his most ambitious projects through behind-the-scenes video diaries on the Masia Instagram page. The series will reveal key decisions, milestones and the realities of bringing a new world-class venue to life.

“Hospitality can look effortless as most guests only ever see the final result. With Masia, we want to open the doors much earlier and show the pressure, the craft, the difficult choices, and the values that guide them,” says Saravia.

The community will be invited to follow and engage in the journey from day one, with opportunities to join the Founding Guests list via the Masia website. Members will be given a front-row seat to the creation of the venue, from witnessing the process of menu development and wine selection to accessing exclusive behind-the-scenes content, livestream Q&As, giveaways and other interactive moments as the project progresses.

Founding Guests will also receive first access to intimate pre-opening dining experiences, along with opportunities to secure limited-edition member-only merchandise created in collaboration with local and international artists.

“With this content series, we want to open the doors to our guests and invite them into the creation of our new restaurant, showing not only the excitement of bringing Masia to life, but also the work, professionalism and passion it takes to open a new hospitality venue,” shares Saravia.

Matthew Brown, GPT Head of Office, said Masia epitomises the type of venue the precinct is designed to attract.

“We are excited to partner with one of Melbourne’s most celebrated chefs to offer an exceptional dining experience at 51 Flinders Ln. With leading culinary institutions and iconic sporting precincts on its doorstep, Masia is set to become a landmark venue – enriching Flinders Lane as a world-class dining destination and welcoming Melburnians into this lively precinct,” says Brown.

51 Flinders Ln’s all-electric sustainable design was key to Renascence Group joining the precinct, with sustainability set to be a hero element to the restaurant’s build.

Masia is pursuing Food Made Good global certification, with the framework guiding decisions across materials, infrastructure and energy, including a no-gas and open fire approach, as well as sourcing, waste, people and training. This certification journey will be shared as part of the series.

Credited with introducing Peruvian cuisine to Australia, Chef Alejandro Saravia is the culinary maestro behind celebrated venues including Farmer’s Daughters, Victoria by Farmer’s Daughters, Farmer’s Daughters - Wine House and Latin American cantina Barra in Melbourne, and Sydney Latin American restaurant Morena.

Masia is anticipated to open at 51 Flinders Ln over Summer 2026/27.
