-- FUJIFILM Holdings Corporation announced that it will establish the “Future Design & Engineering Center” (FDE-C), a Group-wide AI and IT technology development organization, effective November 1, 2026. Under the direct leadership of the Chief Digital Officer (CDO) Jun Masumoto, the new organization will leverage AI and IT technologies to enhance the competitiveness of products and services, create new value, and accelerate business growth.

Role of the Future Design & Engineering Center
Fujifilm has evolved the Forward Deployed Engineer concept, in which technology specialists identify business challenges and carry solutions through to technology implementation, into a model suited to its diverse business portfolio. Through FDE-C, the company will establish a technology development framework that enables technologies and expertise developed in individual businesses to be deployed across the Group.
Identifying underlying business challenges and developing concepts
AI and IT specialists will work closely with business operations to uncover latent needs and underlying business challenges, developing concepts for business transformation as well as new products and services from an AI and IT perspective.
Delivering business outcomes through technology development and implementation
Working closely with business divisions, AI and IT specialists will develop technologies based on these concepts and drive the entire process from implementation in products and services through to the delivery of tangible business outcomes.
Deploying technologies and expertise across businesses
Technologies, expertise and development assets cultivated in individual businesses will be accumulated and systematically organized for deployment across other businesses, further strengthening the competitiveness of the Fujifilm Group and contributing to its sustainable growth.
To date, Fujifilm’s AI and IT specialists have developed and implemented technologies to address challenges identified by individual business divisions. Under the newly established FDE-C, specialists will work closely with business operations while remaining part of FDE-C, further strengthening collaboration with business divisions. By gaining a deeper understanding of operations, they will identify more underlying business challenges and seek to address them using advanced AI and IT technologies, helping to deliver tangible business outcomes. At the same time, they will identify and develop core technologies that can serve as sources of competitive advantage for each business.
FDE-C will also accumulate and systematically organize technologies, expertise and development assets cultivated through individual businesses and deploy them across other businesses, extending the value created in individual businesses across the Fujifilm Group and further strengthening the Group’s overall competitiveness. In addition, through hands-on experience in business operations, Fujifilm will also develop talent that combines advanced AI and IT expertise with a deep understanding of the businesses, while strengthening its organizational foundation for business divisions and FDE-C to work as one in driving continuous transformation.
Through FDE-C, Fujifilm will accelerate the translation of AI and IT technologies into tangible business outcomes, further enhance the competitiveness of its businesses, and contribute to the sustainable growth of the Fujifilm Group.
