Fertile Fruit, a health-forward men’s brand out of Boston Massachusetts, officially launched its direct-to-consumer platform in April, offering a new way for men to support their fertility through everyday apparel. The company’s first product—a custom-designed pair of underwear—combines comfort, function and research-backed design to help support sperm health through better temperature regulation.

Founded by Doug Murphy, Fertile Fruit was born from a personal journey through fertility challenges and the realization that men often overlook their own role in the conception process. With the launch of fertilefruit.com, the brand provides both a high-impact product and an educational resource tailored to the early stages of family planning.
“I realized this was something men could take action on,” Murphy said. “We have more control over our fertility than most of us know.”
Boxer Briefs with a Purpose: Supporting Sperm Health Through Smart Design
The brand’s hero product is a pair of underwear engineered to encourage natural testicular cooling, a key factor in sperm production. The design features snug compression on the thighs for support, while the front pouch remains loose and breathable to reduce heat retention.
Murphy developed the product after receiving a sperm test result showing 50 percent motility. A series of lifestyle adjustments—including improved diet, exercise and switching to looser underwear—led to a follow-up test at 70 percent. Not long after, he and his wife conceived.
“I could not find a product that combined comfort, support and science,” he said. “When nothing existed, I decided to build it.”
Fertile Fruit’s underwear addresses one of the most scientifically supported, yet rarely discussed, variables in male fertility: scrotal temperature. A 2018 Harvard study found that men who wore looser underwear had significantly higher sperm concentrations compared to those who wore tight briefs.
Fertile Fruit’s Platform to Expand with Bundles and Supplements
Customers will be able to purchase directly from Fertile Fruit’s new online platform, which is optimized for a seamless shopping experience and educational exploration. The website will initially offer individual pairs and multi-packs of underwear, with plans to introduce a Male Fertility Starter Pack later this year. The bundle will include six pairs of underwear, a sperm test and a lap desk to help reduce heat exposure during laptop use.
A man’s fertility supplement is also in development and scheduled for release in the second half of 2024. It will be formulated to support sperm development over the typical 90-day maturation cycle.
“We want to give men the tools they need to prepare just like women often do,” Murphy said. “Our goal is to make fertility preparation more accessible and rooted in practical science.”
Education is Core to Fertile Fruit’s Direct-to-Consumer Mission
Beyond products, Fertile Fruit’s direct-to-consumer platform will serve as a hub for male fertility education. The site will feature short-form articles, lifestyle guidance, and research summaries to help men and couples better understand how behavior, temperature and timing all affect sperm quality.
The brand seeks to normalize early fertility preparation for men, offering solutions before expensive treatments or clinical interventions are required. “Women often take the lead in family planning, and we want to support them by giving men a simple, science-based way to participate,” Murphy said. “This is about shared responsibility, not blame.”
Business Outlook and Growth Strategy
Fertile Fruit is projecting $100,000 in revenue in its first year. Initial marketing will focus on social platforms such as Meta and Instagram, with messaging directed at couples trying to conceive, health-conscious consumers and wellness-aligned audiences.
While shipping is currently limited to the U.S., Murphy says the company will monitor consumer demand and feedback as it scales. “We are not claiming to solve infertility,” Murphy said. “But we are offering a smarter place to start—something actionable, well-researched and easy to integrate into daily life.”
