EarnTheNecklace.com, a revealing and engaging web site with articles written by women who exchange their stories and confessions about being in a relationship with a much older man, is weighing in on a recent report showing that a third of couples who go on vacation to save their broken relationship still split up.
According to a new survey, couples who take a make-or-break vacation to save their relationship end up doing more harm than good. Forty percent of the 2,128 married and divorced couples said they have booked a trip to save their marriage, but unfortunately, only 36% said it helped; the rest said it made things worse. (Source: “Make or Break Holidays sees spike in divorce enquiries,” Slater & Gordon Lawyers web site, September 3, 2014; www.slatergordon.co.uk/media-centre/press-releases/2014/09/make-or-break-holidays-sees-spike-in-divorce-enquiries/.)
The study found that 40% of respondents said the vacation added more tension, 27% said they split within two weeks of returning from the trip, 15% said they realized on the vacation that they no longer loved each other, and eight percent even ended their vacation early. Finally, for 10% of couples, the vacation actually prompted them to get a divorce. The report suggests September is the most common month for people considering a divorce, as the end of the “summer ceasefire” is intensified between unhappy couples.
“For relationships to succeed, they need to have a foundation in mutual love and respect. Escaping a bad relationship and the stresses of everyday life by going on a vacation will not solve any major relationship issues,” says Riya Beaumont, EarnTheNecklace.com’s content editor. “For starters, a vacation is a kind of artificial environment, and the problems that sent a couple away on vacation are still present when they get home.”
Beaumont and the dating and relationship experts at EarnTheNecklace.com understand that some sugar babies believe that an abundance of money will help alleviate any relationship stresses. At the same time, there are some sugar daddies who think a wide age gap will keep them feeling younger and happy and be the glue that makes the relationship strong. However, the fact of the matter is that successful relationships are not one-dimensional. There is also more to a grounded relationship than emotions and biology; strong relationships happen when like minded people come together, says Beaumont.
“Relationships don’t last because couples get distracted and avoid the issues. Successful relationships have to be nurtured and rooted in mutual respect, honesty, compatibility, and love. However, these factors don’t mean major issues will not crop up,” Beaumont concludes. “But it does mean that when issues do, they’ll be resolved because the couples understand and value each other. It also means that when they do go on a vacation, it’s for the right reasons: to relax and spend time with the person they love.”
