Diabetes Motivational Coaching celebrates four years of helping people overcome diabetes burnout through personalized coaching, community support, and practical strategies led by founder Danielle Blanchard.

-- Diabetes Motivational Coaching is celebrating four years of empowering people living with diabetes to overcome burnout and create lasting, positive change. Founded in 2022 by diabetes motivational coach Danielle Blanchard, the organization has spent the past four years helping clients build confidence, reshape limiting beliefs, and develop practical strategies for thriving with diabetes.

For millions of people living with diabetes, the daily demands of managing the condition can be mentally and emotionally exhausting. Four years ago, drawing on her own lifelong experience with Type 1 diabetes, Danielle founded Diabetes Motivational Coaching to help others overcome burnout, rediscover confidence, and build healthier relationships with their diabetes.

The anniversary comes as diabetes continues to affect millions of people, while the emotional burden of living with the condition receives increasing attention. Studies have shown that diabetes distress and burnout can contribute to lower treatment adherence and poorer health outcomes, highlighting the need for support that addresses both the practical and emotional realities of daily life.

Founded in 2022, Diabetes Motivational Coaching was created from Danielle's own experience. Diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at just 16 months old, and later with celiac disease, she has spent more than four decades navigating the condition herself. While her own experience is with Type 1 diabetes, her coaching practice supports people living with all types of diabetes, reflecting her belief that the emotional challenges of managing a chronic condition extend across diagnoses.

Alongside her personal journey, she built a career supporting the diabetes community as a certified health and wellness coach, former camp director at The Barton Center for Diabetes Education, former program manager with the American Diabetes Association, and organizer of the Massachusetts Type 1 Meetup, an in-person support community for adults living with Type 1 diabetes that now includes more than 500 members.

Danielle says her mission is also to help reshape public understanding of diabetes by sharing the realities of living with Type 1 diabetes while reminding people that no one living with any form of the condition should feel defined by shame or failure. Growing up, she often felt isolated by the constant responsibilities of diabetes management, but discovering a community of peers changed her outlook and inspired the work she does today.

That transformation began at The Barton Center for Diabetes Education, which Danielle attended as a young child. "The second I walked onto camp, I knew the thing that was making me different from everyone else was now the thing that made me the same," she says. "That feeling of understanding is something I am passionate about sharing."

Rather than focusing solely on glucose numbers or treatment plans, Diabetes Motivational Coaching helps clients reshape the stories they tell themselves about living with diabetes. Through one-on-one coaching, burnout programs, life coaching, and regular check-ins, Danielle works with individuals to take small, sustainable steps toward lasting change. The coaching is tailored to each client's circumstances, whether they are struggling with burnout or pursuing broader personal goals while managing diabetes.

Danielle’s approach was shaped by her own struggle with diabetes burnout. Despite repeatedly trying to "get back on track," she found herself overwhelmed by the relentless demands of managing the condition every day. "I often felt like I was failing," she says. "I would wake up in the morning with the inspiration for today to be the day to get back on track, but by lunch, I would already be burnt out from all the demands of diabetes." Those experiences ultimately inspired her to develop the coaching framework that became Diabetes Motivational Coaching, helping others recover from burnout more quickly and with greater self-compassion.

"Diabetes burnout is real, but it doesn't have to define someone's future," says Danielle. "When people begin changing the beliefs they hold about themselves and their diabetes, they start seeing possibilities instead of limitations. My goal has always been to help people create their new best life, one small step at a time."

Accessibility has also remained central to the organization's approach. Diabetes Motivational Coaching offers flexible pricing and accepts donations that help subsidize coaching for people facing financial barriers, reflecting Danielle's belief that emotional support should not depend solely on someone's ability to pay.

Danielle has also witnessed firsthand how diabetes care has evolved. Diagnosed in 1983, shortly after home glucose monitors became available and at a time when many people were still relying on urine testing to monitor blood sugar, she has experienced decades of advances in diabetes technology. Today, she hopes the same progress can be made in making emotional support and community more accessible to everyone living with diabetes.

Over the past four years, clients have credited the coaching with helping them regain motivation, build healthier relationships with diabetes, and feel understood by someone who shares their lived experience. Testimonials describe the value of having a coach who understands the everyday challenges of diabetes while providing practical encouragement and accountability to keep moving forward.

As Diabetes Motivational Coaching enters its fifth year, Danielle plans to continue expanding awareness around diabetes burnout while helping more people recognize that managing diabetes involves more than medical care alone.

"Living with diabetes is a lifelong journey, but nobody should feel like they have to walk it alone," Danielle says. "If people can leave our coaching believing in themselves again and feeling equipped to live the life they want, then we've accomplished exactly what we set out to do."
