According to industry statistics recently released, 93% of brides stated they use the internet to plan their wedding with 71% stating they used local websites as opposed to national sites. While certainly no surprise to many, the overwhelming number has sent many local businesses scrambling to improve their internet presence. With this in mind, a number of local wedding related businesses have upgraded their websites, preparing for the shoppers who no longer necessarily utilize the dinosaur desktop computers. —
Rafi Hovagimian of De Luxe Banquet Hall venues in Burbank confirms. "We've recently launched a new website; it truly was a must in today's society. The user-friendly site is now optimized for search engines and equipped to bring in fresh leads. The new site offers full visual access to the event venues' decor and amenities via photo and video, with a 360 virtual tour on the way. The visitors to our sites simply expect this type of upscale access. Additionally, the website is scaled 100% to our visitor's display resolution to get the full affect of the images and videos being presented. It is also mobile responsive and adjusts to all screen resolutions, so visitors who are shopping on the go can access our site, too."
The choice to upgrade their wedding venues website was a practical one in today's digital society. In fact, eMarketer predicts consumers will make nearly $87 billion in mobile purchases by 2016, accounting for more than 27 percent of all e-commerce transactions. Furthermore, recent research shows 57% of consumers will not recommend a business with a poorly designed mobile site. Similarly, 40 percent of consumers will go to a competitor’s site after a bad mobile experience.
This comes as no surprise to Hovagimian who says a number of his leads come from brides who say they found him online or indicate they looked at his website on their mobile devices before coming in for a tour. "With the average age of brides on the rise, most of the planners are busy career women who don't have a great deal of time to spend going from place to place when planning their weddings. So, they rely a great deal on what they see on the internet. They want confirmation that the pictures they saw online weren't doctored, that what they saw was real. We put together a very elaborate site that will draw the viewers in, increase the tours to view and ultimately keep us booked solid."
