-- The Dare2Draw, the non-profit mentoring and networking platform for comic book artists, announced today that Steve Rude, the world-famous illustrator, will return to The Dare2Draw to lead a Studio Chat on April 15. Hosted by Simon Fraser (Dr. Who), the chat will take place at the Google YouTube Space NY and then be posted to the new Dare2Draw YouTube Channel. The chat celebrates the 35-year anniversary of the “Nexus” comic series and his career.

“This is an amazing opportunity for artists to get exposure to one of today’s most impressive talents,” said Charles D. Chenet, Founder and Executive Director of Dare2Draw. “This kind of intimate chat gives everyone an opportunity to connect and promote good health and business practices for cartoonists.” These Dare2Draw Studio Chats are made possible by Jerry's Artarama.

The Dare2Draw enables established artists and arts organizations to meet in a supportive setting. “We put the art back in sequential art,” Chenet added. The organization arranges contests and prizes, with a fun and engaging game show vibe. At the Dare2Draw events, experienced professionals present lectures and demonstrations and hold question and answer discussions on all aspects of making comic books, animation and illustration art. Topics include ‘acting’ for the comic book panels, breaking down a script, figure drawing, anatomy, painting, gesture drawings and using different drawing techniques and media.
With this new YouTube format, the Dare2Draw chats will pull back the curtain on what it’s like to be a professional at the top of his comic book career.

Steve Rude’s career began in 1981 with his and co-creator Mike Baron’s groundbreaking “Nexus” comic series. Nexus is a space saga which catapulted Rude into the field of comics, where he became highly sought after by major publishers. Rude has been honored with numerous awards, such as the 1984 Russ Manning Newcomer Award, the Kirby Award for best artist in 1986, and numerous Eisner’s for artistic achievement. For over two decades, Rude has drawn hundreds of comics’ greatest iconic heroes, and has galvanized the art world as a comic book and graphic novel artist and illustrator.

The Dare2Draw also announced that Rude and Baron have given Dare2Draw the rights to use Nexus in its first Dare2Draw mentoring Anthology that they’re working on with the Joe Kubert School, in Dover, New Jersey.
