The event will put the ancient city of Luxor in the totality zone, where the moon will completely cover the sun for a little more than six minutes, one of the longest of this century.

The main tour itinerary starts with an overnight flight from Cairo to Luxor, where the guests will arrive at a specially selected viewing site on the west bank of the Nile at a very early point on 2 August. Access to Karnak Temple and Luxor Temple is granted in the morning prior to the eclipse, then a commentary on the eclipse and its implications in ancient Egyptian culture during the time of the eclipse. Extended departures combine the eclipse day with extra nights in Cairo and Aswan, with some packages being upgraded, which feature hot air balloon rides over the Theban Necropolis on the eclipse morning, depending on civil aviation regulations.
