-- On September 9th, 2018, Chow Tai Fook Jewelry Group held New York • New York Art Crossover Exhibition during the New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2019. As the initiator of the charity exhibition, Chow Tai Fook unveiled New York Collection Jewelry which were showcased along with Chow Tai Fook’s high-end brand Hearts On Fire.
The New York Collection Jewelry is a crossover cooperation with outstanding young Chinese artists from top art colleges in the United States. Through this cooperation, Chow Tai Fook wants to bring the Chinese art and originality to the world, and appeal to the younger generation.
The String of Body is designed by Yihan Chen, a Brooklyn-based artist who graduated from NYU Tisch School of the Arts. This work uses string as a visual element and reflects this sense of rhythm through interpenetration and winding. The artist explores the possibility of natural cycles and rhythms in our bodies through behaviors, sounds, body, and combination of performing arts and technology.
BINETSU is the work by Tianran Wu, a New York-based artist and curator who is currently studying at School of Visual Arts. Wu usually use ready-mades as art element. Binetsu, a Japanese word meaning micro fever, is the heart throbbing which represents girls’ little secret and hidden impulsion, which wanted to bloom but contradictorily doesn’t want to because of shyness.
Waves is the work by Mengtai Zhang, also a New York-based artist who is currently a student at Columbia School of the Arts. His works appear as ambivalent allegories of power, where personal and sociopolitical factors encounter. Waves was inspired by a Chinese folk song In That Place Wholly Faraway which depicts a feeling of longing and beautiful imagination for a place.
The Goblet is designed by Scynge Xing, a multimedia artist who is now pursuing her Master Degree of Fine Arts at Parsons School of Design. Through this work, she conveys that materials are transformed and transcended into a linear, cumulative, but unstable state, which gives it a subtle nuance for its meaning.
